Directed by Taylor Hackford, Against All Odds is a 1984 romantic thriller starring Jeff Bridges, Rachel Ward and James Woods, with Alex Karras, Jane Greer and Richard Widmark.

Jeff Bridges plays Terry Brogan, an ageing professional American football player hired by nightclub owner Jake Wise, played by James Woods, to find his missing girlfriend Jessie Wyler, played by Rachel Ward. Brogan tracks her to Mexico, where the assignment becomes complicated when the pair fall in love.

The film is a loose remake of Jacques Tourneur's 1947 film noir Out of the Past, with Jane Greer, who starred in the earlier film, appearing here as Jessie's mother.

Against All Odds also became closely associated with Phil Collins' title song, which reached number one in the United States and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song.
