Directed by Norman Lear, Cold Turkey (1971) is a satirical comedy starring Dick Van Dyke, Pippa Scott, Tom Poston, Edward Everett Horton, Bob Newhart and Maureen McCormick. The film follows the residents of a small Iowa town who accept a tobacco company's challenge to give up smoking for 30 days in return for a $25 million prize.

Written, produced and directed by Lear, the film uses the increasingly desperate attempts of the townspeople to quit smoking as a satire on corporate America, advertising and addiction.
