Directed by James Fargo, Every Which Way But Loose is a 1978 American action comedy starring Clint Eastwood as Philo Beddoe, a truck driver and bare-knuckle fighter who travels across the American West with his pet orangutan, Clyde.

Accompanied by his friend Orville Boggs, played by Geoffrey Lewis, Philo becomes involved in a series of misadventures involving motorcycle gangs, bar fights and his pursuit of aspiring country singer Lynn Halsey-Taylor, played by Sondra Locke.

The supporting cast includes Beverly D'Angelo and Ruth Gordon, while Manis the orangutan delivers a memorable performance as Clyde.

A departure from Eastwood's more familiar western and crime thriller roles, Every Which Way But Loose became one of the biggest commercial successes of his career and introduced audiences to one of his most recognisable comedy characters.

The film's popularity led to the 1980 sequel Any Which Way You Can, which reunited Eastwood with several members of the original cast.

This original US theatrical poster features striking illustrated artwork by Bob Peak, one of the most celebrated American movie poster artists.

The design places Clint Eastwood at the centre of a dramatic composition, surrounded by smaller illustrated scenes and characters from the film, reflecting its unusual combination of comedy, action and road-movie adventure.

An appealing original 1970s cinema poster for collectors of Clint Eastwood, Bob Peak artwork, classic American comedies and vintage illustrated movie posters.
