Directed by Piero Vivarelli, Il Decamerone Nero is a 1972 Italian-French anthology film combining adventure, comedy and exploitation cinema.

Inspired by African stories associated with the writings of ethnologist Leo Frobenius, the film presents five interconnected tales exploring relationships, desire and traditional storytelling.

The cast includes Djibril Diop, Serigne N'Diaye, Line Senghor, Josy McGregor, Fatou Diame, Beryl Cunningham and Isseu Niang.

Released during the popularity of Italian Decamerotico cinema, a cycle of films inspired by the success of Pier Paolo Pasolini's The Decameron (1971), Il Decamerone Nero represents a distinctive example of early-1970s European genre filmmaking.

This original Italian theatrical poster is particularly interesting as a country-of-origin example for a film produced partly in Italy.

Printed in the impressive Italian 4-Fogli format, the poster consists of two separate sections designed to overlap when displayed, creating a large image measuring approximately 140 x 198 cm.

An unusual original 1970s theatrical poster for collectors of Italian exploitation cinema, European cult films and vintage large-format movie advertising.
