Monsieur Verdoux is Charlie Chaplin's acclaimed 1947 black comedy, with Chaplin starring as Henri Verdoux, a former bank clerk who supports his family by marrying wealthy women and murdering them for their money.

The cast also includes Martha Raye, Isobel Elsom, Marilyn Nash and Arthur Hohl. The original story idea was suggested by Orson Welles, who received a screen credit for his contribution.

One of Chaplin's darkest and most distinctive films, Monsieur Verdoux combines black comedy, crime and social satire, using its murderous central character to explore morality, war and society.

This large-format French re-release poster features striking illustrated artwork by renowned French poster artist Léo Kouper.
