North to Alaska - Land Der 1000 Abenteuer (1960) Original German A1 Cinema Poster – A vintage theatrical folded German A1 poster (23" x 33" / 58 x 84 cm) from Henry Hathaway's 1960 Yukon adventure comedy. Starring John Wayne as "Big Sam," the film pairs him with Stewart Granger, Ernie Kovacs, Fabian, and Capucine in a tale of gold rush ambition and frontier romance. Based on Lazlo Fodor's play "Birthday Gift," the narrative follows Big Sam's quest for fortune and love in Alaska's untamed wilderness. The poster's exuberant copy celebrates the film's scale and spectacle: "These were the giants who fought and loved their way to the top of the world!" and "In all the 50 states you won't find a fun-filled adventure like it!" The title song, performed by Johnny Horton, became iconic; tragically, Horton died in a car accident just days before the film's premiere. Designed by artist Meerwald, the poster features vibrant period artwork. Condition shows a small hole at centre, minor edge wear, and a small tear at top centre. A striking European release poster for this classic Wayne adventure.
