Directed by Anthony Carras, Operation Bikini is a 1963 American Second World War action adventure produced by American International Pictures (AIP).

Set during the Pacific War, the film follows a group of American servicemen undertaking a dangerous underwater mission behind enemy lines.

Tab Hunter stars as Lieutenant Morgan Hayes, alongside Frankie Avalon, Scott Brady, Jim Backus, Gary Crosby and Michael Dante.

The supporting cast also includes Jody McCrea and Eva Six.

Combining submarine warfare, military adventure and romantic interludes, Operation Bikini reflects the distinctive style of American International Pictures during the early 1960s, blending wartime action with the youthful appeal of its leading stars.

The film is particularly notable for featuring Frankie Avalon, who would become closely associated with AIP's popular beach-party films of the same decade.

This original US theatrical poster features a black-and-white promotional design highlighting the principal cast and the film's unusual mixture of wartime action and romance.

Unlike conventionally folded US One Sheets from this period, this example was tri-folded, leaving the central artwork free from a vertical machine fold.

An original piece of 1960s cinema memorabilia for collectors of Tab Hunter, Frankie Avalon, American International Pictures and vintage war movie posters.
