An original folded Italian 4-Fogli movie poster for Ran (1985), Akira Kurosawa's acclaimed samurai epic.

This poster was printed for the film's first theatrical release in Italy in 1986 and is a genuine theatrical-release poster, not a reproduction.

Format: Italian 4-Fogli / Two-Panel
Size: approximately 140 x 198 cm (55 x 78 inches)
Presentation: Folded
Release: Original 1986 Italian theatrical release

Condition: The poster has edge and fold wear with very small tears and creasing.

Directed by Akira Kurosawa, Ran is the celebrated 1985 Japanese-French epic starring Tatsuya Nakadai as the ageing warlord Hidetora Ichimonji.

Inspired by William Shakespeare's King Lear and Japanese history, the film follows Hidetora's decision to divide his domain between his three sons, unleashing betrayal, warfare and the destruction of his family.

The cast also includes Akira Terao, Jinpachi Nezu, Daisuke Ryu, Mieko Harada and Yoshiko Miyazaki. Ran received four Academy Award nominations, including Best Director for Kurosawa, and won the Academy Award for Best Costume Design.

This impressive Italian 4-Fogli was produced in two separate sections designed to overlap when displayed, creating a finished poster measuring almost two metres high.
