Directed by Clint Eastwood, The Eiger Sanction is a 1975 American action espionage thriller based on the bestselling novel by Trevanian.

Eastwood stars as Dr Jonathan Hemlock, a retired government assassin and art history professor who is drawn back into the dangerous world of international espionage.

Assigned to identify and eliminate a target during a climbing expedition in the Swiss Alps, Hemlock must undertake a perilous ascent of the Eiger, one of Europe's most formidable mountains.

The film combines Cold War intrigue, espionage and spectacular mountaineering sequences, with much of the climbing action filmed on location.

The supporting cast includes George Kennedy, Vonetta McGee, Jack Cassidy and Heidi Brühl.

The Eiger Sanction is particularly notable for its demanding mountain-climbing sequences, with Eastwood performing a number of his own stunts during production.

This original US theatrical poster features dramatic illustrated artwork showing Clint Eastwood suspended against a snow-covered mountain, capturing the danger and excitement of the film's alpine setting.

An appealing original 1970s cinema poster for collectors of Clint Eastwood, classic espionage thrillers and vintage illustrated movie posters.
