Written and directed by Richard Brooks, The Heist is a 1971 crime caper comedy starring Warren Beatty, Goldie Hawn, Gert Fröbe, Robert Webber and Scott Brady.

Warren Beatty stars as Joe Collins, an American bank security expert working in Hamburg who devises an audacious scheme to steal money hidden in safe-deposit boxes belonging to three criminals.

Goldie Hawn co-stars as Dawn Divine, who joins Collins in the elaborate robbery, while Gert Fröbe – familiar to collectors as Auric Goldfinger in Goldfinger – plays bank manager Mr Kessel.

Set largely in Hamburg, The Heist combines comedy, crime and an elaborate bank robbery plot in a distinctly early-1970s caper film.

The film was originally released under the title $ and is also widely known as Dollars, while The Heist was used for its UK release.
