Directed by Peter Fonda, The Hired Hand (1971) stars Peter Fonda, Warren Oates, Verna Bloom, Robert Pratt and Severn Darden. A thoughtful revisionist Western, the film follows a drifting cowboy who returns home after years away in an attempt to rebuild his life and reconnect with the family he left behind. Renowned for its poetic storytelling and the stunning cinematography of Vilmos Zsigmond, it has become one of the defining Westerns of the early 1970s.
