Directed by Alexander Mackendrick and produced by Michael Balcon, The Man in the White Suit is one of the classic Ealing comedies, starring Alec Guinness, Joan Greenwood and Cecil Parker, alongside Michael Gough and Ernest Thesiger.

Alec Guinness stars as Sidney Stratton, an eccentric chemist who invents an extraordinary synthetic fabric that never wears out or becomes dirty. Initially hailed as a breakthrough, his invention soon alarms both textile manufacturers and workers when they realise the seemingly indestructible material could threaten the entire industry.

Released originally in 1951, the film combines science fiction, satire and comedy to explore industry, technological progress and the competing interests of workers and business.

This 1980s British theatrical re-release Quad uses the striking red design featuring Alec Guinness in his famous white suit. The artwork is credited to A.R. Thomson and S. John Woods and this re-release printing is distinguished by its semi-gloss paper stock.

An attractive original re-release poster for one of the best-known Ealing comedies and an appealing piece for collectors of Alec Guinness, British cinema and classic Ealing Studios films.
