Directed by Edward Dmytryk and based on the novel by Henri Troyat, The Mountain is an Alpine adventure drama starring Spencer Tracy and Robert Wagner as brothers Zachary and Christopher Teller. The cast also includes Claire Trevor, William Demarest, Barbara Darrow, Richard Arlen, E.G. Marshall and Anna Kashfi.

Set high in the French Alps, the film follows the brothers as they climb to the wreckage of a passenger aircraft, driven by very different motives. The dramatic mountain setting and pairing of Spencer Tracy with Robert Wagner make the film a distinctive example of 1950s adventure cinema.
