Directed by Peter Yates, The Deep is a 1977 American underwater adventure thriller based on the bestselling novel by Peter Benchley, author of Jaws.

The film stars Nick Nolte and Jacqueline Bisset as David Sanders and Gail Berke, a couple holidaying in Bermuda who discover mysterious objects while scuba diving near a shipwreck.

Their discovery draws them into a dangerous adventure involving lost treasure, valuable narcotics and a ruthless criminal organisation.

Robert Shaw stars as Romer Treece, an experienced treasure hunter who helps the couple investigate the wreck, while Louis Gossett Jr. and Eli Wallach appear in supporting roles.

Combining spectacular underwater photography, suspense and exotic locations, The Deep became one of the notable adventure films of the late 1970s.

The film was directed by Peter Yates, whose other credits include Bullitt (1968) and The Friends of Eddie Coyle (1973).

This original US Style B theatrical poster features a distinctive minimalist design dominated by a dark underwater composition, with the film's title and promotional tagline positioned above the mysterious depths.

The artwork, credited to Gary Meyer, offers a particularly atmospheric alternative to the film's more widely recognised Style A poster.

An original piece of 1970s cinema memorabilia for collectors of Robert Shaw, Jacqueline Bisset, Peter Benchley adaptations and vintage underwater adventure movie posters.
