Directed by J. Lee Thompson and adapted from Joan Henry's novel, The Weak and the Wicked is a 1954 British women-in-prison drama starring Glynis Johns, John Gregson, Jane Hylton, Diana Dors, Sidney James, A.E. Matthews, Athene Seyler, Olive Sloane and Sybil Thorndike.

Glynis Johns stars as Jean Raymond, a well-to-do woman sent to prison after becoming involved in gambling debts. Inside she encounters women from very different backgrounds, with the film exploring their individual circumstances and the effect imprisonment has upon their lives.

The film was an important early feature for director J. Lee Thompson and reunited him with writer Joan Henry following The Yellow Balloon. Diana Dors appears as Betty Brown, adding further interest for collectors of 1950s British cinema.
